And I mean really really Love it. So when I got an invitation to the Alexis Mabille fashion show in Paris (my very first invitation at a fashion show in Paris), I jumped for happiness.</p> <p>I love haute couture and I consider it to be a sort of playground for designers-they get to put their fantasies on paper and then turn them into something real. It’s always very interesting to see how they handle the challenge, jogging between creating art pieces and (alas) wearable pieces. I believe haute couture is more about creating characters, personas, rather than making clothes.</p> <p>Looking at Mabille’s collection made me want to eat more Frech patisery and drink some more champagne. Pastel tones and delicate fabrics, designs meant to enhance the feminine silhouette, a feminine figure that said contemporary princess at play. I appreciated the white hair ( very sensual) and light makeup, suggesting simplicity /purity/ a new start. Instead it is about fine art jewelry and packaging. Lately I’ve had quite a crush on massive jewelry and this huge stone-cross fine art ring had me at “hello”. The piece was part of an exhibition and it drew my attention immediately. I find the crow support brilliant. </p> <p>Insert one symbolic element and voilà, you have an entire story (in this case I’d say dark magic, castles and princesses). He told me he new nothing about fashion, but I didn’t worry. How difficult could it be to buy a pair of shoes?But when he showed me the pics he had found on a fraud website, I felt the need to step in and give him a hand :-))</p> <p>I first went on the Louboutin website, where Pigalle was sold out. I searched and searched and was very happy to find them at Luisa Via Roma. Their website said a pair ought to have come in by October 31st. So I impatiently waited. Instead of the pack, an apology letter arrived, explaining Louboutin will not be delivering to them. We got a refund and I proceeded with a new search, managing to find a pair of Pigalle of my size at Barney’s New York. Naturally, with custom taxes and shipping expenses, they costed more.</p> <p>At that point I suggested we called Louboutin in Paris to ask if they could find it. I’m a size 38, sometimes a 37, but luckily I checked out their size chart and saw that an Italian 38 is a French 39. So he asked for that and after a day of research they succeeded in finding one pair in…Madrid.
